Welcome to the Help column of the Converter application. The converter application was designed with a focus of easy understanding and comfortable usage by the end user. However there are circumstances where doubts may arise in using the application effectively.
In this part, we have tried to explain how to use the Converter application effectively. Please go through it and get the best out of the application. Please contact us for your suggestions, comments to make this application still better.
This conversion application has 44 categories of units, grouped based
on
the nature of their measurement. For example, units like feet,
meter, miles, kilometer which are used to measure distance between two
points are categorized under the name “Length”. At any point of
time, one of the categories can be selected and the units in that
particular category will be available for conversion between them.
The
category can be changed by tapping on the “Change Category”
button at the top right corner of the converter screen. This will
bring up a new screen with the active list of categories from which
the required category can be selected.
Though the application contains many categories, all of them may not be
required often for everyone (and could be annoying sometimes). So an
active list of categories can be defined by the user. In the active
list of categories screen, by tapping the “Edit” button the full
list of categories can be seen (in a new screen). Every category is
provided with an “ON/OFF” button with which the category can be
included or excluded from the active list.
All
categories cannot be excluded from active list as at least one
category needs to be active to perform conversion.
To know the units that are covered under each category, tap on the red
colored arrow at the right end of the respective category name in the
full category list screen. It
brings up
a new screen with the list of units covered in it. All units may not
be used often under a category and hence an option to disable them
for the category is provided. Every unit is provided with an “ON/OFF”
button with which the unit can be included or excluded from the
category.
A minimum
of two units has to be available active under each category to
perform conversion.
On the
main converter screen, units are displayed in two boxes which can be
scrolled through. In the highlighted box, unit which needs to be
converted is on the left and the result is displayed on the right.
To change
the units, just scroll through the list and select the required unit.
The application is designed in such a way that the conversion is
instantaneous. For example, after entering the input value for a
conversion, changing the unit on the right hand side will change the
result value on the right hand side instantaneously.
On both
sides of the highlighted box, the values can be copied to / pasted
from any place (including the calculator available in the adjacent
tab) by double tapping on it.
The user
can add the often used categories to the favorites list from where it
can be accessed easily. To add a particular conversion to the
favorites list just tap on the +star button on top left. The star
button on the left top can be used to access the favorites list. Just
tap on any the conversions displayed in the favorites list to have
the conversion available for you in the converter screen immediately.
The
keypad is designed with better clarity and clear boundaries with
which the values can be entered as follows:
– to clear the entered value
– to enter the numerical value
- to enter the decimal point
- to toggle between plus or minus values
- to swap the units in the highlighted box
– to delete the entered values to make changes
- to enter x10
x values
A calculator available next to a converter is always handy. With that
view, a calculator with commonly used operators is provided just next
to the converter.
Users can search for the units or the categories they look for and find
them
easily. Just select either category or units in which the search is
required and type in the search bar. The search results are displayed
based on best match of the word. The status of the category / unit is
displayed and it can also be switched ON or OFF in this page if
required.
Tapping on the required category or unit brings the converter screen
with the selected unit / category for conversion.
Users can control the button clicking and scrolling sound using the
ON/OFF switches in this tab.
